Microsoft Word 97 – 2003 DOC (.DOC) File

.DOC (DOC) file format is one of the primary file formats delivered and supported by Microsoft Word. Doc file formats are also referred to as Legacy Word document, the reason being that they were supported in Microsoft Word 97 – 2003 templates. Though this file extension is now deprecated, but the latest versions of Microsoft Word can easily render data from them.

The .doc file format falls in the category of Legacy word document; thus, they can be categorized under document file format.

Although being deprecated, the .doc file extension is initially supported by the latest version of Microsoft Word Application that comes as an inbuilt part of Microsoft Office suite. Some other applications that support .doc file format are: -
